Resetting the Service reminder indicator (SRI)
Service Reminder Indicator (SRI) on your Volvo S40/V40 will remind you when the times come for regular service. There are 3 conditions where the light will come up.
- Distance to Service condition
- Engine Hours to Service condition
- Time to Service condition
Engine Hours to Service - Indicates the predetermined service interval in engine hours. Options are: 500, 750, or 1,000 hours.
Time to Service - Indicates predetermined service interval in months. Options are: 6, 12, 18 or 24 months.
For S/V40 Phase 2, the preset distance is 15,000km. This value also varies depends on your locations or countries where you bought your Volvo. The chances is that if the light come up, it normally due to condition (1) above. After the service, the light should be reset so that the counting of mileage or time will start again at zero.
Somehow, there are cases that the SRI is not reset after the service. So, this will lead to wrong indication that your car need service. As long as you know the condition should not be met then it is safe to do your own reset as described below. If you are not sure, you should visit your nearest workshop so that a proper check should be made to the system.
Proceed as follows to reset the service reminder indicator (SRI):
Note! If the reset button for the trip odometer is not released within 4 seconds, the light is not reset. However it will stop flashing. |
